So even if I were to get hired in that area, I wouldn't last long. I luckily managed to get a trial shift at a takeaway shop, but a few hours later I realised I was not suited to intense, hectic and fast paced customer service work. I'm working on the fact that I'm fat af, but being on the autism spectrum and dealing with the accompanying depression and anxiety presents a whole wave of challenges and barriers in terms of gaining employment (Centrelink, however, believe there's nothing wrong with me at all and that nothing could possibly affect my ability to work anywhere). God forbid you're not a completely perfect genetic freak, physically and mentally. I live in the Onkaparinga area, so just about every major shopping centre or district is about 30-80 minutes away by bus. Don't even bother trying to apply for a job in a cafe unless you can make latte art which makes Vincent van Gogh look like a hack. That'd be alright, casual rates are pretty appetising to a poor uni boi like me and would provide a much needed cash flow to pay for textbooks and whatnot with enough left over to pursue my love of listening to and making music or art, but about 95% of them have obscene demands such as 2-3 years of prior experience for entry level positions and the ability to work 7 days a week (a ridiculous demand for casual job seekers who are mostly made up of Uni students who may have a free day in their study schedule, which I don't). With Uni starting next month, the only jobs I can feasibly do are weekend/casual jobs. As I mentioned in the linked comment, I've only gotten like three or four responses that can be considered positive, but none of them have really gone anywhere expect for a disastrous trial shift. I've been applying for jobs since I left high school at the end of 2017 (can't even remember how many resumes I've dropped in or how many jobs I've applied for). It seems to be damn near impossible to find work in Adelaide (especially if it's your first job), no matter how free your schedule is or how qualified you are. I might also crosspost this post over there. Recently I posted a lengthy comment in a recent /r/Australia thread about the absolute state of "entry level jobs" discussing my own experience with looking for work, so I thought I'd share my experience here as well.
